  • Promptly forward service of process and other state and legal notices to the business.

A company cannot be its own registered agent in Illinois. However, an individual owner can be listed as the registered agent. This isn’t always practical for business owners who work from home, keep irregular business hours, or travel frequently.

Another option to hire a registered agent service. That way, you won’t need to worry about missing an important legal notice if you go on vacation.
